2 weeks

has passed since I last updated. Since I last wanted to blog regularly.

So, what has happened? I fell ill. Really ill. I haven’t been this ill in many months now. Well it all started off with the damn spicy chili sauce. Having dripped a bit around my food, I got a very very very bad sore throat the same night. It then turned to a very dry cough. Then a throat infection. Out of no where, I caught a cold and I’ve been stuck with it ever since. Its much much better now. But I still get a blocked nose every morning when I wake up.

If being ill sucked. Then I being ill on my own birthday really sucked. It was another year which I spent in bed being ill. Cant remember exactly if I was ill the last time or I had a really bad hangover. But I was confined to my bed and forcing myself to drink loads of water.

And to top it off, I got rejected from a job I really really wanted. A job I spent so much time perfecting my application. Making sure it was the best I have ever sent off for a job. The job was what I was hoping for. But apparently I’m not good enough for it. Oh well, the hours spent on that application made me so confident but I guess I was flying to high imagining things that was not true.

I guess times are tough. Securing a full time job now much be the toughest thing to do. My parents are abit worried about me; its been almost a year since I’ve graduated and I have nothing to show them. I dont know what to do except apply for more jobs. I hate to dissapoint them.

Sometimes I look at myself and compare where I am and where I wanted to be. Its pretty upsetting that I’m no even close to where I thought I should be in life. And its great that I’ve not shared my life plans with anyone for obvious reasons.

Perhaps I set my sights too high. Perhaps…

too long since I have updated.

Well to summarise what I’ve been  doing since my last post? I’ve met up with my parents and saw my little niece for the fist time. Although there were alot of arguments with my parents, I did enjoy those three weeks with them. And that was almost my whole March gone.

I’ve stepped up my game recently and actually did some research on other jobs that I could possibly take up. Lo and behold I got a few, and I’ve spent hours making sure my application to each one of them sounds personalised.

Its quite sad that I’ve taken a step back from archery not going to regular shoots. I’ve been doing some SPT’s half heartily. I do really need to get hold of a job and I think once I have a job in hand, I can slowly sink back into things I enjoy doing most.

Out of the three jobs that I have applied to, I really wish I got the one that would bring me back to where I spent most of my time here in the UK for the past 3 years.  My confidence is high but when you know that everything hangs on the balance of someone else, not something else, then its not as high as it can be.

The recent economic downturn may have shut many doors for people. It certainly has shut most of mine. But I do believe people are starting to take a step back or rather hold their step forwards and open their eyes to see how much the world has changed since the last time they took a good look.

I certainly held my feet together and started looking at things. There are some eye opening news showing how messed up our world really is. Others make me marvel at the fact humanity has progressed far in the last decade. I would write my thoughts (based on what I feel and maybe some research, if I have the time) on them in the following days.

Right now, I have still have some archery review to finish up HAHA.

Forum Trolls and Fanboys…

•February 21, 2009 • Leave a Comment

are such a pain, everywhere you turn and try to get some good information about something, they will be there, making unrelated comments, clouding up judgments of those who are new to the topic.

What makes me really mad, is when those trolls are fanboys. Fanboys are those who would just try to “spread the good word” about a company’s product that they like. Its kinda like having one of those promoters just blaring on and on tell you that you should buy that brand/product based on little merit. Probably the only merit they have is that they “have used it and its GREAT!”. Which is why I really hate fanboys as much as trolls.

I do join a few forums about archery, laptops, desktop building, photography, erm badminton racquets (haha I joined just to find out more about a particular racquet, which i only used for about 5 months and stopped badminton all together), hacking PSPs etc.

Each and everyone has trolls and fanboys in them. There to be the “voice” of their brand or product. See some times there are “open threads” where you’re allowed to be the biggest whore fanboy of a particular thing. And yes, I find that highly entertaining to read and sometimes informative on things you don’t normally hear. Like wear and tear overtime, performance over time, resale value etc etc.

But what drive me nuts is when you know what you want, and you would probably settle for nothing else because only that item would do. Lets take for example a laptop. Someone would say:

I’m planning on getting a Sony Vaio #####(model), I was wondering if anyone has already got this laptop? If so could you tell me what you like and dislike about it? Thanks, I hope to hear from you all soon”

If you’re lucky you get a few people replying straight to the question, no bias, just straight talk about things.

Then its just a matter of time, when you get replies like these:

SONY IS A PILE OF EXPENSIVE CRAP, ALL THEIR SHITTY LAPTOPS ARE OVER PRICED FOR THEIR SPECS. YOU’RE PAYING FOR DESIGN AND SOMETIMES MAKE IT LOOK LIKE A HUNK OF SHIT. BESIDES IT USES VISTA. NOTICE THAT THE WORD “USE”. THATS RIGHT, NOTHING CAN “RUN” VISTA CAUSE ITS THE WORST OS TO COME FROM MONEY GRABBING MS”

I do try to understand frustrations of these people who type in all caps as if they have something shoved up their asses and are in need of attention. But we all know deep down inside, that we, for the sake of everyone, could do without such people.

But what pissed me off are replies like these:

Sony’s alright, but if you seriously want a good laptop, get a Mac Book, I like the design of the Chicklit keys that sony is now following across their lines of laptops. Besides battery life is awesome and it runs OSX”

Man, replies that like just pisses the hell out of me. Didn’t the guy above ask for information regarding a that particular laptop? I’m not sure about you, but when I was in school, I was told to answer DIRECTLY to question, don’t spin your answer unless it was Moral Studies lol.

But seriously, the second answer composed of no-parts-answering-the-question, and 4-parts-talking-out-of-his-faboy-ass. And you WILL always get people like that on forums which I’m sure wouldn’t happen in a real life “forum”. Archery products, badminton racquets, computer parts…

The thing that just drives it home for me, is when it happens to be the same person who does it all the time. Its hard to bring it to the attention of the moderators if you’re doing it alone. The moderators think you might have some beef with the troll/fanboy. But it seems like no one  else is doing anything about it.

So if you’re new to a forum just take time to get the replies you need. Its a pain but you’ll learn to see which is really useful information and which is just fanboyism.

Fanboys and trolls, burn in hell.

BCY Halo vs. Brownell Diamondback

If you’re at very competitive level of archery, i.e. you’re doing it more than just a hobby, you’re bound to come across some discussion about servings. It could be, someone telling you, you might want to reserve your center serving because its fraying, or you yourself might want to reserve your string because the serving’s have came loose etc. [To skip my bull story scroll to the paragraph before the picture (= ]

My curiosity of servings started quite differently actually. I’ve always shot with no2 Beiter nocks on my carbon arrows and Easton 3D Super Nocks. Those are nocks with larger grove to fit slightly ticker strings. Since I’ve always bought “custom made” strings, I was able to tell the maker to accommodate for these large grooved nocks. I’m not sure how they did it then, but it worked. However my luck ran out when I ordered two custom made strings form a well known string maker, Mr Greg Hill.

He told me that the Diamondback serving was the thickest available and it would give me a good fit with my then new 16 strand string. Cool! I thought to myself as always when the string maker tells me that large nocks wouldn’t be a problem.

But because the strings from Greg Hill are so well made, THE BEST I have ever seen to add to that, my nocks were just a little loose till I started wrapping dental floss on where the nocks goes on it. It was all fine till one day, a fellow club member was adamant that that wasn’t the largest diameter Diamondback serving, 0.025. I bought that and to my dismay it was the same result, or I must have sucked at serving.

Either way I must have been pissed off with the new spool I bought or myself sucking at serving, because I tied a really tight knot with the dental floss on the center serving. This messed up the serving big time and I had to reserve AGAIN.

Having scrolled through most of the archer forums on the net. Most people were talking about BCY HALO and how slippery it is off the tab on release. I thought why not? Since I’m already adding dental floss might as well try another serving then.

Here it is, BCY Halo 0.024 in blue.

Halo Seving

If its unclear that spool hold 45 yards of the good stuff! Not 75 yards d=

Here’s the, erm, spool information(?) of the Halo and Diamondback serving side by side

Halo & Diamonback Spool

And most importantly here’s a picture of the Diamondback serving and the  Halo serving side by side.

Diamondback(L) vs.Halo(R)

The Diamondback on the left had some silver material going through it and appears consistently. This is quite use full actually when you’re serving your string because you can immediately spot when there’s a change in tension because the patterns would not be symmetrical throughout the serving. Whereas in comparison the Halo has no such thing making it just a little bit more difficult to compare.

Here’s a picture showing how the fray when cut.

Diamondback(L) vs.Halo(R)

For some strange reason the Diamond back tends fray a little more every time.

Right now here’s how both the materials looks like when served using a Cavalier Pro String Server. Both were served using the highest possible tension on the serving spool i.e. almost tight enough so it cant move even when pulled but not tight enough to cut off blood circulation to my fingers holding the start of the serving in place.

You can start to tell the difference between the two when you start serving them on to your strting. Diamondback has a good grip on the string even when a lot of tension is exerted, especially when you start serving. Diamond back stays in place and that’s it. All you have to do it wind away. Same thing at the end, no worries about it moving out of position when you want to end the serving.

On the other hand I had a bit of trouble with Halo. Starting the serving was a pain, as I was used to Diamondback before, Halo kept slipping out of place making it almost impossible to get the tension right while starting the serving. After a few tries I managed to get to grips about it. It was almost a similar story while ending the serving. But patience prevailed and it was done.

This is what the Diamondback and Halo looks like after being served.

Diamondback(L) vs.Halo(R)

Notice the pattern on the Diamondback serving? I’m not sure if its clear to you, but the patterns looks like they’re repeated pretty evenly. That means I got the same amount of tension throughout serving.

At first glance, it looks like color is the only difference between the two. But if you look closely, you’d notice that Diamondback is “duller” than Halo throughout the serving.  I think it so since the Diamondback is “grippier” and the Halo is slippery as mentioned before.

How does it shoot?

The difference is clear. Halo IS very smooth, or slippery if you prefer, on release. It just goes. Actually is pretty clear when I was drawing my bow for the first shot with a center Halo serving. Because I have a pretty shallow hook on the string with my fingers, I could actually feel the string slipping out of position. This results in me making a weird shot because the string was not in the position I was used to and also because it just slips of the fingers making it feel fast. Almost makes me feel that I’m not ready to let go. BUT you should experience the difference and not just take my word for it.

While on the other hand I was so used to Diamondback staying in place with my shallow hook, there’s no movement whatsoever while drawing my bow. How it comes off the fingers on release is just normal to me and all because I’ve shot with Diamondback for the past 2 and a half years.

Funny thing I should also mention, I only shot with the Halo serving for 2 times. Then a couple of weeks back, the heavy snowfall forced the school to shut. As a result I didn’t shoot for a week and I had a competition at the end of that week. Haha, I ended up reserving my string with my Diamondback serving the night before the competition. Right after that comp I reserved it back to Halo and got the feeling of the shot about after 120 (+/-) arrows. As a result my sight mark has gone up by 4 lines on a Sure Loc sight(yup bracing height the same etc etc). And I’m loving it! (partly because its blue)

Oh and another interesting thing to note, at the maximum tension on a Beiter serving tool, the Halo serving gives me a lightly tighter nock fit than the Diamondback. Remember the Diamondback I use is 0.026” in diameter compared to the Halo’s 0.024”

Carbofast X-TEND Hydro Review

•February 3, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Not too long ago a fellow club member lent me an extender to try out. Its been on the market for quite sometime now but not many people know about it. Its not surprising since I’ve met with a couple of people who could tell me a little about Carbofast. When I say a little I mean just the previous products they had. They mostly had something to say along the lines of a multi rod stabilizer. When I proceeded to say “Oh the extendable ones?” They look at me funny…I’m pretty sure the ones I saw and held were extendable.

Anyway I decided to find out more about Carbofast’s history by emailing them on their website. A very kind person called Rohan took time to email me what he knows about Carbofast’s history. I don’t want to be sued a goon by leaving out details that Mr Rohan took time to share with me, so, here is what I got in my inbox just a few hours later after emailing them (received 11:34 PM!!!):

Hey Jason

I am afraid that I don’t have a full history but I can give you an idea of it. I set up Carbofast Direct over a year ago now and we manufacture and sell Carbofast Products.

Carbofast at the moment is a small company and we are solely archery based. We have a close relationship with the clubs around us and with our pro staff.  Our products are designed completely with performance in mind, our developement strategy is to get the performance right first and the rest will follow.

The previous history I’m a bit sketchy on but this is to the best of my
knowledge. Carbofast was originally set up in Ireland in the Late 80s as a carbon manufacturer. Archery equipment was only one of its products. The company produced a number of risers, the Setanta, which was a 26 1/2 inch riser. and the Emerald star which was a complete carbon riser, both I think you will agree looking at current trends were well ahead of their time.

The stabilisation was the biggest success with the quadro rods selling in huge quantities.

Since 2001 Carbofast has been solely an archery based company with the products being produced in Holland.  There was however little development and the brand started to dwindle, So two years ago I decided to take the company on, all production moved back to Ireland and we introduced new products and started working on research and development to bring carbofast back to life as such.

Hope that is of some help to you.

If you have any more questions please feel free to ask

Well history lesson aside, we would be looking at the X-tend Hydro from Carbofast today.

Carbofast X-TEND Hydro

This extender is 4.5 inches in length and dare I say pretty heavy in the hand. Its also an inch in diameter therefore giving it a solid chunky feel. I weighed it up on my scale as I understand it seems there are people who are very peculiar about the weight of their stabilizers.

X-TEND weight

Yup that’s right, at 152.6 grams its almost as heavy as the S3 Long Rod I reviewed. Let me try to put this in to perspective, here if you still can’t get it this is the total weight of my SF SHC + Cavalier V-Bar set up:

V-bar + Extender Weight

That’s right! Its 12.2 grams lighter than the extender and v-bar I currently have.

Don’t let that fool you. As you know when someone has a dilemma about going after the opposite sex that is less pretty or handsome, incidentally both of which is completely a matter of personal choice,  friends and family alike would always say the following quote or some variation: Its what’s on the inside that counts.

Sorry no pictures of what actually inside this beefy extender. Firstly its borrowed and secondly, its sealed pretty tight. That’s natural considering the innards of this extender is filled with hydraulic oil as name suggests.Unscientific test confirms this. Haha, well shaking the thing pretty hard you can tell its not just some liquid i.e. water, but actually something that takes a lot of force to move e.g. hydraulic oil

I think this might send the wrong idea to folks thinking about getting one, but for me, I personally cannot say if it works FOR ME without some compromise of the weight of my full setup.

Let me explain myself: My setup always comprised of a 3 inch extender, 30 inch long rod, and two 10 inch side rods, With a combination weights, my set up is pretty much front heavy. If you hold my bow at its pivot point, it tips forward by a lot! I’ve shot with a balanced bow with more weight at side rods but somehow, TO ME, my bow felt heavy but still “jumpy” when I released the string. With a front heavy setup, TO ME, the bow felt lighter than what I’ve just described, but it seems to jump less; traveling just a short bit forward before rotating/rolling forward.

I must be at the maximum of what I can physically carry with my bow arm because the combination of the X-TEND’s weight and the extra 1.5 inch made my set up VERY heavy, While testing it out, I found myself fighting to keep the bow arm from sagging down with all that weight instead of naturally proceeding with my draw.

DSC_2584

That’s right my current extender and v-bar is shorter than the entire 4.5 inch the X-TEND is.

For the interest of trying to give a whole and complete review, lol, I still shot with it. The club member who was next to me on the line commented that my bow sounded quieter. I personally could not tell because I was just trying to “feel” the difference. I did however shoot without my front damper and weights on just to see if it works, And I can say it did with a smile (=

I’ll try to explain as simply as possible. I did feel a little vibration left, but that’s because there was no dampener on my long rod. I could see my long rod working overtime, flexing as if there was no tomorrow. But to my surprise that did not correspond to what I was feeling on my bow when I held it immediately after letting it go. As my long rod was still flexing, all I felt was just tiny tremors. Now that’s pretty impressive! Once again my apologies if you have to take my word on it without some quantifiable data. But I’m not talking out of my ass here =D

Well I have returned the X-Tend  it to its owner already. Hah, he couldn’t sell this to me although I admitted to him it was an impressive extender. Don’t get me wrong here, unlike the other extenders that’s on the market now, Carbofast X-TEND Hydro stands out because of the liquid innards in its chunky but solid body. As its a heavy extender and dare I say “odd” in length, my advice would be to start building your stabilizer setup around the X-TEND. This is to get the balance you need with your bow without having too heavy a full setup. And  yes I am recommending the X-TEND despite the fact that I’m not able to shoot properly with it, but that’s because it looks like I’m shooting at the extreme of what I can hold, mass wise.

Here’s the official product page of the X-TEND HYDRO. Click for the manufacturer’s own product description or to place an order if you’re sold (=

A friend back at university flipped his car while the road was icy. He was still buckled in while upside down. He unbuckled himself and fell head first because the laws of gravity applied to him too. Thankfully he was alright, but he injured his neck

The following conversation took place with some acquaintances.

Me: Did you hear, X flipped his car on an icy road. (Lol) he injured his neck while unbuckling himself, falling head first.

*AH: Well maybe he was trying to get out of his car quickly because there was petrol leaking.

Me: (skeptical) Nah I’m sure there wasn’t (if not X would have told us).

AH: HOW THE FUCK DO YOU KONW? WHAT’S ALL THIS SPECULATION ABOUT? YOU WEREN’T THERE, YOU’RE SPECULATING…etc

LOL!

Conversations would be a new category for conversations I had/overheard that I find funny and would like to share with my readers, which I have none, for now.

I helped someone

•January 29, 2009 • Leave a Comment

the other night. It was just a random lady who’s bicycle chain came of the gears. She needed someone to prop up her bike while she tired to place the chain back on the gears.

At first I just held her bike for her while she was trying hard to put the chain back. Then I could she her problem, it was one of those guards you put over the chain near the pedal so your trousers doesn’t get stuck in them. I told her I’d go back and get a screwdriver and asked her to wait there. After getting my screwdriver  everything was done in less than 5 minutes.

She was rather grateful but I could tell she was still surprised that I actually took the effort to go home get a screw driver and come back and get my hands dirty. In fact most people are taken aback by my willingness to help not just that lady the other night.

Honestly speaking, I don’t really see what the problem. It strikes me when people approach me for help and sometimes I just do what I can to help and my effort seems more than what they were asking for.

I guess its just me, most of the time I don’t mind helping people out. And I don’t think you should hold back your effort when someone genuinely needs your help. That’s right genuinely need your help, not those who pretend to need help but are just lazy asses. And just how do you identify these lazy bums? Well through experience really which brings me to another point.

However I don’t normally help people when it comes close to anything dealing with money. Call me a materialist or whatever but the feeling of losing money just upsets me. I can still remember the incident that changed my attitude towards lending money to those who are “desperate”.

I just reached the gate to my house after walking back from the bus stop. You know regular college kid, back pack slung across one shoulder, text books and files balanced in the other arm while trying to find the key hole to the lock with the other. Out of nowhere, a car screeched to a halt behind me and this old man, I say in his late 50’s, starts asking me for money.

The story he told me was that his wife was just in an accident, and she’s on the way to the hospital and he’s rushing there. He needed some money to get some petrol because he was low. He saw the reluctance on my face, as I can show expressions pretty well with my face, and said he’d pay me back once everything was over. He even told he’d was renovating a house two blocks away from mine and I could go there and look for him to get my money back.

At that time it seemed to be legit. The clothes he was wearing with paint spots over them, the occasional dash of plaster or cement stain that cant really be washed away, his fingers were covered in either plaster or cement while trembling and gripping hard on his steering wheel. He’s tone of voice, not demanding, but desperate.

I took out ten bucks, a weeks worth of lunch money in college and gave it to him. And he sped away tires screeching almost how it sounded when he stopped right behind me. Everything took place in less than a minute, I was out ten bucks, and at that point in time hoped his wife was alright.

It didn’t bother me much after that day passed but when it came to the end of the month I was out of cash. And then I remembered why. And I had a that sinking feeling of being conned outa my money.

A few days later my dad and I went for our daily evening walks around the neighborhood after dinner. We walked to the two blocks. I couldn’t see which house was being renovated, which kind of makes sense cause its been almost 3 weeks, perhaps they were done? I did see a skip on a pavement along the street, but the houses around it looked pretty un-renovated to me.

Oh well, out ten bucks. Lesson learnt. I do want to believe I did help someone. But I do tend to think negatively about people sometimes.

But anyway this is getting abit stupid. Point is I don’t mind helping anyone as long as it doesn’t involve money.

Fiberbow S3 Longrod.

•January 25, 2009 • 1 Comment

I must be the luckiest person on earth as of last week. Thanks to a club member who was having a fire sale of his equipments because he has found the right combination of equipment for his setup, I got a S3 long rod for £90 (= Its currently going for £145 here(at the time of writing). Mind you this price is a special offer price.

Here’s my new S3.

S3 in tube

Haha! Alright first things first, I should have stated clearly, that this IS a secondhand long rod. And although I know the previous owner of this long rod takes care of his equipment, there are just a couple of dings and dangs on the long rod. For that matter I’m not going to comment on the finishing quality in this post.

On with the pictures

S3

The thing that sets the S3 apart from other long rod out there in the market, is its unique shape. I’m not sure about the technical term for it, but it is triangular in shape. If you look closely in the picture above, you’d notice that there is a peculiar “dent” developing, well that is the start of the triangular shape that I’m talking about.

S3 full view

Yup, as you can clearly see, I need to get the lighting right in order for the shape of the S3 to stand out. But I think you can actually see the rough shape of the two sides shown here.

DSC_2548

I think you get the idea about its shape. If not check out the S3’s cross section and more scientific data/tests at its official product page here.

When I first got it out of its tube casing, the first thing I noticed is that it felt heavier than my Sebastien Flute HCF long rod. It really didn’t matter then because I just wanted to put it on and start shooting with it too have a feel. More about that later.

After the shoot I went home and weighed it up on my scale. For those who dispute everything in life just to try to make a point, or stand out, or just to be a knobhead, the following picture is for you to see that my scale is more or less accurate.

DSC_2554

There, its showing the exact weight of a known quantity. Anyway you can now shoot me down for weighing something like this, I know its not the MOST accurate way of weighing an object of this shape but hey no one’s perfect right?

  • I found the balancing point of the S3, the point where it would balance evenly on my index finger, and then placed that point in the middle of my scale. Just like every high school experiment that requires some kind of measure, mass in this case, I repeated this three times, and I got the same reading each time. I also re did all this with my SF HCF long rod.

S3 Weight

SF SHC Weight.

Ta da! (Wall-E style). My suspicion was right my SF SHC was lighter, by 21.2grams. But considering I shoot a heavy setup anyway, I really couldn’t feel the difference when I have it on my bow. I would say this 21 grams is negligible to me.

DSC_2563

Now on to million dollar question everyone wants to know; How does it feel?

One word : AWSM!

I really didn’t believe that my setup could get any softer after the shot. Softer as in “dead” in this case my lovely soft/dead set up has become softer/dead-er! After I release, I want to hear THUWMP! while feeling the bow jump forward, as it is rotating I want the limbs and string to stop vibrating ASAP.

Before trying out the S3, I believed my combination of the Inno Carbon and Winex Limbs SF SHC stabilizers gave me exactly the shot reaction I wanted. After trying out the S3, I was truly, truly, truly amazed and happy at the same time. I mean I wouldn’t say that my combination of equipment had any extra vibration. It was minimal. With the S3 there’s less, minimal-er.

I know this is not a proper way to test for residual vibrations, but every time I do a deep hook on the bowstring, usually when I’m tired, I could feel just that extra bit of vibration coming from my limbs. It stops immediately after I put the bottom limb on my shoe. I did a deep hook that night with the S3, and to my surprise, there was no residual vibration! Now this could be a bad thing for me as I normally know I did a deep hook when my limbs vibrate ever so subtly and correct myself on the next shot!

Overall, I am very impressed with this long rod and I can see why its easily one of the most expensive long rods on the market. To mould woven carbon fiber into the S3’s unique shape takes time and effort which adds to the cost. That unique shape in itself must have come from hours and hours of study.

DSC_2549

Just like many fascinating things to come from Italy, i.e Ferrari, Lamborghini, Alfa Romeo, Pizza lol, the Italian’s at Fiberbow have poured their passion into designing and producing a fantastically awesome long rod that not only looks great, but works better than anything else I’ve tried so far. I can’t wait for someone to sell me their extenders and side rods from Fiberbow.

Breaking that mentality.

•January 14, 2009 • Leave a Comment

Have you been embarrassed by someone of your kind? Someone who doesn’t officially represents you personally but in some important aspects show what you might be? Someone who stands out for the wrong reasons? And that kind of reflects on you because you are associated with that someone.

Just imagine this: A German Shepherd dog, going bonkers over a ball of yarn.Rolling, tossing and turning round and round over a ball of yarn. And you’re the cop in charge of the canine unit.

Well, I can’t say that I wasn’t once like that, but I do believe that I’ve come along way form being so. But here’s what has caught my eye. Sometime ago I decided to help someone on. The desire and effort that person shown was  far different from what I normally see. That’s a great departure form the mentality that plagues them. The mentality that I have dropped.

And as time passed by, it showed me the exact same mentality that I have come to loathe. The mentality of self superiority will get you what you want at the expense of all others. Brushing aside what maybe needed just for basic survival and not even success. Parading on the pride on a relatively small achievement that others have achieved with less effort and time. Achievement which is not repeatable.

I see those as weaknesses that holds those kind of people back. And its hard to break that mentality unless you step outside for a period of time and experience a different mindset. It pains me to meet people who hold up to that mentality.

What drives me even more nuts/angry, is that they exhibit this mentality with its obvious flaws to  fit  the stereotypical mind of people who are less informed about it. Those who are newly exposed to this mentality cannot comprehend the underlying reason as to why people act like that. More often than not, no research is done and a label/stereotype is formed.

I’ve tried hard to change that, one at a time, but I find it hard to show each one of them. Its hard to talk someone in a large group. There’s alot of “noise” in which meanings are misinterpreted and at best, they’re lost. Another trouble with this is that when you point out it out to that person they would find comfort by confirming their own actions with others in the group who are of the same mentality.

If you single out that person, their mentality would be to feel uneasy. They would next question your intentions instead of what you’re telling them. Completely disregarding the point you’re trying to instill.

I can only stand back and watch and they magical medicine man of the yesteryears pulls up with his cart and tries to captivate the minds and imagination of the present crowd.

Trouble is, no gonna buy that bull.
